kindergarten - second gradeThroughout the year, students in grades K-2 will be learning fundamental movement skills and start to understand how their muscles, bones, heart, and lungs function in relation to physical activity. Students will be engaged in a variety of physical activities that will help them in developing basic levels of strength, endurance, and flexibility. Students will also be learning about space and body awareness by participating in many games and activities that allow them to practice controlling their body while moving in a variety of settings. Lessons in K-2 physical education class will also focus on practicing various manipulative skills: throwing, catching, kicking, dribbling, and striking.

third - fifth gradeStudents in grades 3-5 continue to do activities to develop strength, endurance, and flexibility. It is important for us to help students begin to understand how exercise affects different parts of their body and how important it is for them to make physical activity a part of their daily routine. Students will also continue to focus on developing mature form in both locomotor and manipulative skills while participating in game situations. While participating in games and sports, students will focus on learning the etiquette of participation and ways to resolve conflicts during game situations.
